FC Goa vs Odisha FC turned out to be a 5-goal thriller with the home side clinching a winner in the 96th minute. The Gaurs won their second consecutive match of the ISL campaign to move to the second position of the Indian Super League (ISL) table with six points from two matches. Odisha FC are at the fifth spot with four points from three matches.
Odisha FC started the match strongly, building their attacks from both wings. Mourtada Fall gave Odisha FC the early lead when he placed the ball from the centre of the FC Goa box to the top right corner of the goal.
FC Goa grew into the game and created a number of chances, but finishing let the Gaurs down. Noah Sadaoui’s left-footed shot from the left side of the box was blocked by an alert Odisha FC defence. Carl McHugh hit the bar with a header from the centre of the box from Brandon Fernandes a cross following a set-piece situation. However, there was no breakthrough for the Gaurs at half-time.
FC Goa got back into the game with a 55th-minute goal from Noah Sadaoui from the penalty spot. Amrinder Singh bought an FC Goa attacker down in the penalty area, resulting in a foul. Sadaoui made no mistake in converting from the spot.
The Gaurs took the lead in the 68th minute when Noah Sadaoui found his second goal of the night. His powerful shot beat Amrinder Singh resulting in an ecstatic celebration from the home crowd. Their joy didn’t last long as Mourtada Fall equalised for Odisha FC in the 81st minute.
Just when a dejected home crowd was heading towards the exits, left-back Jay Gupta scored for FC Goa to restore their lead in the 96th minute. Gupta produced a powerful left-footed shot from the right side of the box to the top left corner from an assist by Víctor Rodríguez following a corner.
