Jamshedpur FC on Thursday defeated Hyderabad FC by a solitary goal from midfielder Rei Tachikawa. The win is Red Miners’ first victory of this season’s ISL and moves them up to the sixth spot. The Nizams lost their second consecutive match of the season, and are languishing at the bottom half of ISL table.
Jamshedpur FC had a good start to the game. Rei Tachikawa’s right-footed shot from outside the box was blocked by an alert Nizam defence. Hyderabad FC grew into the game gradually and started threatening the Jamshedpur FC defence. Petteri Pennanen, Mohammad Yasir, and Joe Knowles all had attempts on target but failed to break the deadlock.
The stalemate continued in the second half too, with both teams trying to outrun the other. However, a lack of creativity in the defensive third hurt them badly, with both goalkeepers putting on extra shifts to ensure the game remained goalless.

The tie turned in the favour of Red Miners when Rei Tachikawa stood guard over a free-kick from the edge of the box. The Japanese lashed a right-footed shot to the top left corner. The ball rippled the net, out of Jamshedpur FC debutant goalkeeper Gurmeet Singh’s reach.
The Nizams next play Chennaiyin FC on October 23rd. It will be a challenge for both teams to get their ISL campaign back on track. Jamshedpur FC will take on Punjab FC on 22nd October.
