Lionel Messi decides his next club after Inter Miami as he looks to return to boyhood club

Despite only joining Inter Miami three months ago, Lionel Messi is said to have already planned his next move. After leaving Paris Saint-Germain, the forward revealed in June that he would be joining the Major League Soccer team. He made his debut in July. The 36-year-old has already planned his next stop after leaving US territory, though. His next destination, according to reports, is to go back to Argentina. His vision is to play for Newell’s Old Boys.

The next destination for Lionel Messi

El Nacional, a Catalan publication, reports that Lionel Messi will return to Argentina to reunite with his old team, Newell’s Old Boys. At the age of six, Messi made his professional debut with Newell’s, where he stayed for five years until being taken under the care of Barcelona.

Having said that, Lionel Messi initially intends to uphold the terms of the agreement he made with David Beckham’s business. That indicates that the change won’t be made until 2025, when his contract expires.

According to the rumour, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner would retire at Newell’s. Over the years, he has made a few fleeting appearances, most recently at the testimonial for his old teammate Maxi Rodriguez in June.

Back in 2018, Lionel Messi revealed his desire to return to his boyhood club, saying, ‘Every time I’m more clear that in Europe, Barcelona will be my only place. In Argentina I would like to play six months or some games in Newell’s.’

Messi continued, ‘When I was little I had a dream to play in the Colossus. I was left with the thorn of playing on Newell’s court, I have a family and my children come first, and then me. I want them to grow up in a calm place, being able to enjoy life with security.’

After initially abandoning the side he rooted for, Lionel Messi has gone on to establish himself as probably the greatest footballer of all time. In the process, he has won the World Cup among a long list of other honours. In his first 12 games with Inter Miami, Messi has tallied 11 goals and supplied five assists.
