Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma hilariously shut down a reporter for asking a bizarre question regarding World Cup 2019 final result. Rohit Sharma along with other participating teams’ captains were present at the Captains’ Meet ahead of World Cup 2023. During the Q&A session, a journalist asked Rohit whether the two teams (England and New Zealand) should have been declared joint winners.
Rohit was not amused with the question and frustatingly said, ‘Kya hai yaar’. He then replied the journalist in his quirky style and said, “Winner ghoshit karna mera kaam nahi hai (It is not my job to declare the winner),” said Rohit, leaving everyone in splits.

For those who are unware, England and New Zealand’s scores were tied after the Super Over. As a result, the boundary count rule decided the winner and England lifted the trophy for the first time.
The rule was heavily criticised by fans which forced the ICC to make changes.
We are used to this pressure: Rohit
During the interaction, Rohit was asked about the pressure of playing the tournament at home. The 36-year-old said the team is used to play under pressure and the team is prepared to focus on one match at a time.
“What people are expecting we can’t control. In India wherever we go, be it airports or hotels, they say, ‘World Cup jeetna hai sir’ (You have to win the World Cup). It happens everywhere. It will never stop,” the Indian skipper said.
“A team needs to play 11 games to reach the World Cup final. The last time we played this format was in 2019, but to play 11 ODIs in one-and-half months is not easy. It’s a long World Cup. We don’t want any of our pacers to break down. Hence we have selected more of them,” he added.
Team India will begin their World Cup campaign against Australia on October 8 in Chennai.
