“Ready To Bounce Back” Stipe Miocic Reasons His Intention To Fight Jon Jones At UFC 295

Miocic might retire into the sunset as the undisputed heavyweight GOAT if he can pull off the upset (he's a 3-to-1 underdog).

Stipe Miocic, a former UFC heavyweight champion, has been preparing for his title match against Jon Jones at UFC 295. Miocic expressed his thoughts on his present state of mind and physical fitness ahead of the much-awaited showdown.

Stipe Miocic hasn’t competed in an octagon match in two and a half years, but many analysts believe he would be the greatest UFC heavyweight ever if he hadn’t.

But the way his final fight ended—with a one-punch submission loss to Francis Ngannou in March 2021—wasn’t the ideal way to cap off a Hall of Fame career.

The comeback of Miocic (20-4 MMA, 14-4 UFC), who will face heavyweight champion Jon Jones (27-1 MMA, 21-1 UFC) in the evening’s main event at Madison Square Garden in New York, is imminent. This is Miocic’s biggest battle of his career, and he has been in a lot of huge fights.

“There’s a lot of reasons,” Miocic told during an interview  “One, I want to fight the best. I’m a competitor. I love to compete, and I love fighting. I’m still having fun.

“Two, my last fight didn’t go as well as I wanted it to. I’m ready to bounce back and get that win.”

In his successful 15-year career, Jones, a former two-time light heavyweight champion, hasn’t really suffered a defeat despite facing a who’s who of opponents. In his heavyweight debut in March of last year, Jones submitted Ciryl Gane in just two minutes to win the belt left vacant by Ngannou.

Miocic might retire into the sunset as the undisputed heavyweight GOAT if he can pull off the upset (he’s a 3-to-1 underdog).
