Axar Patel ODI World Cup chances bleak, all-rounder ruled out of Rajkot ODI

There are signs that Axar Patel might be prepared for the World Cup warm-up matches.

The third and final ODI between Australia and India will not be played with Axar Patel. The India all-rounder, who has a left quadriceps strain and was conditionally selected for the Rajkot ODI, isn’t healthy enough to be a member of the team.

He is presently receiving treatment at Bengaluru’s National Cricket Academy (NCA) as per Cricbuzz.

The absence of Axar gives reason for optimism that Ravichandran Ashwin, who has taken Axar’s place, would be able to play in the World Cup. In the first two one-day internationals, Ashwin has performed exceptionally well, claiming four wickets and, more significantly, exhibiting elite bowling abilities that have seemingly plagued Australian hitters, particularly during the encounter in Indore on Sunday.

His selection for the World Cup team has been demanded as a result of this.Axar, who was chosen ahead of Ashwin, is on pace to make a return to the Indian team well in advance of the World Cup, according to sources within the BCCI.

There are signs that Axar Patel might be prepared for the World Cup warm-up matches. This might put Ajit Agarkar & Co. in a difficult situation. The selectors have not yet named a substitute for Axar for the forthcoming game, but Ashwin’s chances currently look good.

Shubman Gill, Shardul Thakur rested, Axar Patel out

The Shubman Gill and Shardul Thakur rest for the Rajkot game and the Axar Patel development happened at the same time. Both of them won’t be traveling from Indore to Rajkot as a result.

The return of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, who were rested for the first two games of the current three-match series, will also be helpful to the squad. Jasprit Bumrah, who was rested after the first ODI in Mohali and skipped the trip to Indore, is anticipated to re-join the squad in Rajkot on September 27, the day of the third and final ODI against Australia.
