Out of World Cup, Naseem Shah to undergo surgery, pens down emotional message

"I would like to thank all of my fans and well-wishers for their unwavering support and prayers," said Naseem Shah

Out of the World Cup, Pakistani express pacer Naseem Shah is set to undergo a surgery. It must be noted that Naseem got a shoulder injury during Asia Cup 2023 in the game against India and was subsequently ruled out of the tournament. Earlier, PCB also announced Hasan Ali as a replacement for Shah.

I will be on the field very soon: Naseem Shah on Instagram

Naseem looked in good rhythm before coping an injury in the Asia Cup. The right-arm pacer will now undergo a surgery and will be eyeing a comeback in December later this year when Pakistan visits Australia to take on the home team in a 3-match Test series starting from December 6 onwards. However, the Men in Green will need to focus on the World Cup first.

“With a heavy heart and full of emotions, I’m sharing that I will not be part of this amazing team that will be representing our beloved country. I would like to thank all of my fans and well-wishers for their unwavering support and prayers,” said Naseem Shah in his recent post on Instagram.

While I’m disappointed not to be part of the team, I believe everything is in Allah’s hands and Inshallah I will be on the field very soon. Let’s unite in support of our beautiful team; they have the potential to make our nation proud,” he added.

“Following thorough medical examinations and consultations with leading medical experts, Naseem has been advised to undergo surgery,” the board said in a statement released today announcing the squad for the ICC World Cup 2023.

“Naseem Shah is a key bowler for us, but he’s injured,” PCB chief selector Inzamam-ul-Haq told reporters in Lahore today. “Unfortunately, the report we have from our doctors, we hear Naseem will be out for a loer time than just the World Cup. At this time, he was the world’s best bowler in my view. It’s a loss for Pakistan. We hope he’s fit soon.”
