The ICC will soon reveal one of the venues for the eagerly awaited T20 World Cup 2024, which will be jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies, will be a 34,000-seat portable stadium roughly 30 miles east of New York City.
The venue will be built in East Meadow, a hamlet on Long Island, some 30 miles east of Manhattan, in the 930-acre Eisenhower Park. It is believed that the location will also host the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan clash.
The announcement is expected to be made soon as per Cricbuzz after serious negotiations between the ICC and New York City officials to build a comparable pop arena in Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx fell up.
India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup 2024 match in New York
Following strong opposition from some of the citizens living around the park and one of the cricket leagues that is based out of the same park, the city officials were forced to abandon the plans for Bronx.
Nassau County gained as a result of the Bronx’s loss because the ICC demonstrated its ability to move quickly to arrange talks with Nassau County representatives, who are in charge of running Eisenhower Park.
This venue will specifically be used for India vs Pakistan World Cup 2023 match.
There has been a lot of clamor within the ICC for cricket to gain traction in the USA. The nation has a two-pronged draw because it has the largest media market in the world and the fastest-growing cricket market globally.
According to cash value, the USA is thought to be among the top 4 countries for media rights for ICC events. One such affirmative step from the ICC was the selection of the United States as co-hosts for the T20 World Cup.
The US cricketing infrastructure, or lack thereof, has, however, long been a source of intense conjecture and worry for the ICC. For their debut season, MLC did open their 15,000-seat flagship stadium in Dallas, but aside from that venue and Central Broward Park in Miami, the nation does not yet have any other permanent floodlit state-of-the-art cricket facilities.
The Eisenhower Park arrangement should significantly reduce ICC’s issues with US venues. The USA received roughly 20 games from the ICC, which will presumably be split among the three venues.
Church Street Park in Morrisville, North Carolina, a different MLC location, is also thought to be a candidate to host a few World Cup games. However, there are no practice facilities or permanent structures at the location.
The 20-team World Cup will begin on June 4 and end on June 30, according to an earlier announcement from the ICC. There is a good chance that the MLC, which has its second edition tentatively slated for July, would use Eisenhower Park’s freshly installed infrastructure to create the park the MI New York’s new temporary home.
