Express pacer Jofra Archer will travel with the England squad in India for the upcoming World Cup 2023. To note, Archer is not part of the 15-member squad but will travel as a reserve announced England Cricket Board on Monday. At present, Archer is nursing an elbow injury but might get fit in the middle-phase of the tournament.
“Jofra Archer will be travelling with the squad to India. He is one of the reserves but we also need to look after him, focus on his rehab,” said National Selector Luke Wright. A further update confirmed Joe Root had requested to play in the first ODI against Ireland at Headingley on Wednesday and has been added to the squad.
As mentioned above, Defending champs England on Sunday (September 17) announced their 15-member squad for the upcoming 2023 World Cup. Apart from Archer, opening batter Jason Roy is also not part of the England WC camp. However, skipper Jos Buttler had hinted that Roy could still make a comeback if he performs well against Ireland in the upcoming bilateral series.
