‘That’s Destruction’ Cricket fraternity praise India after thumping Win in Asia Cup final

India bowled out Sri Lanka for just 50 runs before they chased down the total within first seven overs of the chase.

Team India completed a dominating win over Sri Lanka in the final match of the Asia Cup 2023. Pacer Mohammed Siraj was simply terrific with the ball as he scalped six wickets in the match. Hardik Pandya also grabbed three wickets. Chasing 51 to win, openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan completed an easy chase.

Sri Lanka registered lowest score in Asia Cup history

Sri Lanka captain Dasun Shanaka won the toss and opted to bat first in overcast conditions. There was a slight delay to the start of the match due to rain. The play began and Jasprit Bumrah dismissed Kusal Perera on a duck in the very first over. That set the tone for the Indian side. Mohammed Siraj operated from the other end and was bowled brilliantly.

Siraj dismissed Pathum Nissanka (2) in the fourth over of the innings. In-form Sadeera Samarawickrama (0) was trapped in front of the stumps in the same over. Siraj found himself on a hat-trick as Charith Asalanka departed on the very next ball. Dhananjaya de Silva hit a boundary on the hat-trick ball but edged one to the keeper on the following ball. With this, Siraj became the first Indian bowler to pick up four wickets in a single over.

The Lankan batters had no answers against Siraj. Skipper Shanaka (0) was cleaned up by Siraj with a beauty as the Indian pacer picked up a fifer in just 16 balls. Sri Lanka were reduced to 12/6 in the sixth over. Siraj picked up another as he knocked over Kusal Mendis on 17. Hardik Pandya was introduced into the attack and he wrapped up the Lankan tail quickly.
