Ahead of the World Cup 2023, Pakistan will play their first official warm-up match vs New Zealand on September 29. Then on October 3, Men in Green will go against Australia in the second warm-up match. Both matches will be played at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad.
Pakistan Cricket in crisis?
Babar Azam is not pleased with Pakistan Cricket Team’s Asia Cup 2023 exit. Naseem Shah and Haris Rauf, the Pakistan Cricket team’s two key bowlers got injured in the continental cup. And Men in Green exit following a defeat to Sri Lanka in a match that had to be won caused tension in the locker room.
After the PAK vs SL match, two superstars Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi got into a furious altercation in the locker room as per local reports.
The Pakistan Cricket Team entered the competition as the favorites. But they fell to Sri Lanka in the final over and were humiliated by India. Shadab Khan and Fakhar Zaman, two senior players, performed poorly.
Pakistani captain Babar Azam did not hold back, according to Bol News. He called out non-performers and warned them that because they had grown to be too famous, their performances were irrelevant.
Following a string of subpar performances, Pakistan’s captain is under pressure. Pakistan played in the semifinal and final of the last two T20 World Cups, although they lost both times. Pakistan‘s home Test series losses to Australia and England were not victories. They were so unable to advance to the WTC Final. Pakistan also lost to Sri Lanka in the final of the previous Asia Cup (T20).
The Pakistan Cricket team will be under intense pressure to perform while they are in India for the World Cup. The World Cup will be Babar Azam’s final opportunity. Additionally, Shaheen Afridi is currently developing as the team’s greater star, thus any missteps could lose him the captaincy.
