IND vs SL: Top 5 Players to Watch Out in Asia Cup Final, Check Out

IND vs SL: The final match of the Asia Cup 2023 will be played at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on September 17 (Sunday).

Team India is set to take on Sri Lanka in the final match of the Asia Cup 2023. Both sides have displayed some good cricket in the tournament and will look to replicate their performance in the last match of the marquee event. In this article, we will take a look at the top 5 players to watch out for the final match of Asia Cup. Let’s take a look.

Insidesport

Rohit Sharma

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma has been in good touch in the ongoing Asia Cup. The right-handed batter had stroked three-consecutive fifties before a rare failure against Bangladesh. So far, Rohit has amassed 194 runs in 5 innings with 74 being his highest. He is currently averaging 48.50 in the competition with his strike rate being 107.78 which is better than the top 5 run-getters in the tournament so far. Rohit himself is on the sixth spot. Given his ability to score big runs and Sri Lanka being one of his favorite opponents, we might see a daddy century from the Hitman on Sunday.

Insidesport

Kuldeep Yadav

After taking 9 wickets in just four games, Kuldeep Yadav is surely a contender to watch out for with the bat against Sri Lanka. Yadav has played one less game but still he is just two wickets away from becoming the leading wicket-taker in the competition. Since his comeback, the left-handed batter has looked more threatening with the ball and also gives his best on the field. The wicket in Colombo have been generally slow and Kuldeep will look to take benefit of that with the old ball.

Insidesport

Kusal Mendis

One of the most consistent batters for Sri Lanka, Kusal Mendis will look to take the responsibility on his shoulders against the Indian pacers. The right-handed batter is currently second on the most runs list in Asia Cup 2023. Mendis has stroked 253 runs in five innings with his average being 50.60 and a strike rate of 90.04. Indian bowlers will need to get Mendis as early as possible because once set, he can be a dangerous threat for the Men in Blue.

Jasprit Bumrah

Bumrah did not feature in the match against Bangladesh which India lost recently. He was also not a part of the Playing XI against Nepal but has bowled well with the new ball when he has played. Bumrah is certainly a big match player and he will be eyeing a match-winning performance for his side in the upcoming clash against Sri Lanka.

Insidesport

Dunith Wellalage

Spinner Dunith Wellalage derailed the star India batting line-up during their last meet in Asia Cup. The left-arm spinner scalped a five-wicket haul which included the likes of Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul and vice-captain Hardik Pandya. As mentioned above, Colombo wicket might suit the slow bowlers and Wellalage can be a deadly threat for the Indian batters once again.
