Ousted from Indian team, Sanju Samson enjoys his free time by playing Paddleball

Sanju Samson is not part of the upcoming World Cup 2023 set to be played in India from October 5 onwards.

Talented batter Sanju Samson is not part of the Indian team participating in the ongoing Asia Cup 2023. To note, Samson travelled to Sri Lanka as a reserve player but he was sent back to India after wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul joined the Indian squad. Meanwhile, Samson was seen playing Paddleball in his free time. He also uploaded a post on his Instagram account which is getting a lot of attention on the social media platform.

Samson is not part of the Indian squad for World Cup

As mentioned above, Samson was picked as a backup reserved for Rahul, who wasn’t available for the group stage games – against Pakistan and Nepal – due to a niggle. The latter passed the fitness test before joining the Indian squad earlier this week. It has been learned that once Rahul returned, Samson was sent back home.

During his free time, Samson has been involved in other fun activities. Recently, a photo of Samson playing golf in Dubai also went viral on the social media platforms. While there may still be a chance for the keeper to return to the national team set up, several fans have slammed the decision to overlook Samson for Suryakumar Yadav in the World Cup squad.

Even in the Asia Cup squad, someone like Tilak Varma, who has never played in ODIs, has been preferred alongside Suryakumar over Samson, who has decent stats in his limited appearance. To note, both Tilak and Surya failed to get going in India’s last Super 4 clash against Bangladesh. With the middle-order failing, the Men in Blue suffered a humiliating defeat against the Bangla Tigers. Meanwhile, India is set to take on Sri Lanka in the final match of the Asia Cup 2023 on Sunday.
