Bumrah, Kohli & Rohit skip optional practice, Iyer returns ahead Bangladesh match

After three consecutive days of cricket, Indian stars decided to skip the optional training session on Thursday with only a handful hitting the nets under Rahul Dravid's guidance ahead of India vs Bangladesh clash.

With back to back matches, India Cricket Team opted for only an optional practice session on Thursday ahead of IND vs BAN (India vs Bangladesh) last Asia Cup Super 4 clash. As India have already sealed their place in the Asia Cup 2023 final, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah as well as captain Rohit Sharma skipped practice. Only Shardul Thakur, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Tilak Varma apart from Shreyas Iyer took part.

With three consecutive days of cricket, India Cricket Team finally got a break on Wednesday. But ahead of IND vs BAN clash, it was only kept as an optional session on Thursday morning.

As expected, the likes of Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, all part of workload management scheme, did not have net sessions.

Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma both have also skipped batting sessions as has been the pre-match routine in back-to-back games.

IND vs BAN Focus on Shreyas Iyer

However, the good news is that, Shreyas Iyer has resumed batting practice. He is recovering from back spasm and missed both India vs Pakistan and India vs Sri Lanka matches.

He did complain about some stiffness and was under the medical team’s observation. But it’s a welcome shine as he batted for some time at the nets in Colombo. As per reports, he looked in good touch.

But whether he will be playing in Friday’s IND vs BAN clash will depend on the fitness report of the physios on Thursday.

India Squad for Asia Cup 2023: Rohit Sharma(c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul(w), Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Suryakumar Yadav, Axar Patel, Shreyas Iyer, Prasidh Krishna, Tilak Varma
