Lionel Messi has been off to a perfect start to his MLS career. Having been unbeaten since joining the side, the Argentinian has scored 11 goals and provided eight assists for Inter Miami. Inter Miami play their next match against Atlanta United at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium. But will Messi play the match which will be held on an artificial turf?
Messi in doubt for Atlanta United game?
The home stadium of Atlanta Utd, Mercedes-Benz Stadium field features an artificial turf. Artificial turfs are known for being injury-prone for footballers, with many players suffering ligament or knee injuries in the past.
It would not be a surprise if Messi decides to sit out of the game, specially given his recent injury scare with Argentina. The Argentinian though had himself addressed this topic when he arrived in USA.
“The truth is my youth was spent on artificial turf, my whole life was on that pitch. It’s been a while since I’ve played on artificial turf, but I have no problem adapting myself again,” the World Cup winner had said.
If Messi plays, it would be spectacle to watch for the fans because the stadium is one of the best in US. The stadium can hold up to 42,000 spectators for a football game, and has a retractable roof.

The stadium also has a full-circle video board called Halo that runs around the entire upper deck of the stadium.
The spectators even get a reduced concession prices compared to most professional sports venues.
Inter Miami will need to win the match against Atlanta United to bolster their chances of qualifying for playoffs with only eight games to go. Can Tata Martino and Inter Miami afford to keep Messi out of the team in such a crucial match?
