Watch Fakhar Zaman help Ground Staff during Rain in IND vs PAK Asia Cup 2023

Fakhar Zaman has not been among the runs as the Southpaw will look to play a big knock against the arch-rivals India.

Pakistan are taking on India in the Super 4 clash in the Asia Cup. Meanwhile, the rain interrupted the game as opener Fakhar Zaman helped the ground staff in covering the stadium in Colombo. Speaking about the match, India after being invited to bat first had a brilliant start with the bat as openers Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma stroked fifties with the bat. However, the Men in Green bowlers made a decent comeback in the match as both openers departed in quick succession.

Indian openers thrashed Pakistani pacers in first 10 overs

Batting first, both Rohit and Gill stunned the Pakistani pacers. However, Naseem Shah bowled some good lines with the new ball but that was not enough to stop the Indian batters. Rohit was also severe against the spin bowling as he smashed Shadab Khan for three consecutive boundaries. However, the spinner bounced back and took the wicket of the Indian skipper.

Meanwhile, it continues to rain in Colombo as the play on Sunday seems a bit difficult for now. To note, the Asian Cricket Council has allotted a reserve day for the game. However, the match officials have decided if a 20-over can be conducted then the game will resume today itself.

Earlier, PAK skipper Babar Azam won the toss and opted to have a bowl first, “We will bowl first. I think there is a bit of moisture, we need to use that. Always, India Pakistan is high intensity, but we will take it match to match. As a team, we are playing well, we are focused on this one. No changes.”

Looking to bat first. There will be a challenge upfront, but the way we guys batted last time around gives us confidence. Every game is important for us, but one thing at a time to focus on. (On rain delays) That’s the nature of the sport, it gave us good time to prepare and now we’ll look to play well,” said Rohit after the toss.
