After taking a small break from his Asia Cup 2023 responsibilities to celebrate the birth of his first kid, Jasprit Bumrah has re-joined the Indian team. Just in time for India’s first Super 4 game against Pakistan on Sunday, Jasprit Bumrah arrived in Colombo early on Friday.
Bumrah left Sri Lanka just after India’s first game on September 2 against Pakistan and was unable to take part in the second league game on September 4 against Nepal. The team’s first Super 4 game, though, is the ideal time for his return.
Bumrah will take part in the team’s practice at the R Premadasa Stadium on Friday night.
Jasprit Bumrah: New Dad
Jasprit Bumrah, the star pacer for India, and his wife Sanjana Ganesan welcomed a son on Monday, the cricketer announced in a touching message on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Bumrah made his international comeback after a protracted 10-month absence owing to injury. India’s 29-year-old captain led the team against Ireland in the T20I series.
In two matches, he captured four wickets, including an outstanding 2/15, showing off his impressive form and fitness.
Unless the weather improves later in the evening (on Friday), as has been the previous trend, the Indian team may have to practice indoors due to the forecasted rain, like they did on Thursday.
However, there hasn’t been any rain in Colombo since Friday morning as per Cricbuzz, and the Indian squad is anticipating a productive net session this evening.
The weather forecast for the upcoming week is unfortunately not very encouraging, with Colombo’s capital city predicted to experience significant rainfall, including a 90% likelihood of rain on Sunday, the day of the eagerly awaited India-Pakistan match.
Similar to this, there is an 85% chance of precipitation on Saturday for Sri Lanka’s second Super 4 game versus Bangladesh. As the championship moves closer to its conclusion, the weather will become increasingly important.
