MS Dhoni is an avid Tennis fan himself. He was spotted witnessing the battle seated just behind Alcaraz’s chair. In an encounter that lasted more than four hours, 20-year old Alcaraz sailed past Zverev. The top seed sealed a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory.

Sony Sports Network, the official broadcasters of the US Open in India, shared a video of Dhoni’s presence in the stadium. In the video, both Dhoni and Alcaraz were seen in the same frame.

MS Dhoni was last seen in action in the IPL this year. He led Chennai Super Kings to a record-equalling fifth title. He has hinted that he might return to play in the IPL 2024, which is touted to be his swansong year. However a lot will depend on his fitness. The 42-year old recently underwent a knee surgery.

Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz will next face Daniil Medvedev in the semifinal on Friday. The 20-year old is bidding to become the first Men’s singles player in 15 years to defend the US Open title. Roger Federer was the last man to successfully defend his crown in the tournament way back in 2008.

In the other semifinal, Novak Djokovic will face USA’s Ben Shelton. There is a possibility of another summit cash between Alcaraz and Djokovic. Both the players recently met in the Wimbledon final, where Alcaraz defeated the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Djokovic then took his revenge by defeating the Spaniard in the Cincinnati final just ahead of the US Open.
