Shaheen Afridi records: Throwback to when pacer wreaked havoc in PAK vs BAN WC clash

Afridi has taken eight wickets in two matches against Bangladesh in ODIs.

The PAK vs BAN clash is set to be played on September 6. But, ahead of their face-off in the Asia Cup 2023, let’s have a look at four years ago, when Shaheen Afridi shattered records during their last ODI encounter in the World Cup 2023.

The left-arm spearhead bowled an all-time great spell by a Pakistani in ODI World Cup history. The then-19-year-old came steaming in on every ball in the 43rd match of the 2019 World Cup. The pacer took 6 wickets in 9.1 overs, giving away just 35 runs in the process.

Shaheen claimed the prized wickets of Tamim Iqbal, Liton Das, Shakib al Hasan, and Mahmudullah to help restrict Bangladesh to just 221 runs while they were chasing 316 runs. His bowling figures [9.1-35-6-3.81] are the 5th best of all time in the ODI World Cup and the best figures by a Pakistani bowler in the event.
