India’s star pacer Jasprit Bumrah has left for Mumbai to attend the birth of his first child and is set to miss the IND vs NEP Asia Cup 2023 match, scheduled to be played on Monday (September 4). The ace-pacer will miss the clash against Nepal as Bumrah and his wife Sanjana Ganesan are expecting a baby soon.
Bumrah recently returned to action during the Ireland tour
To note, Bumrah had missed about a year’s cricket before he came back to the Indian side for leading a rather young Indian side during the Ireland tour. The right-arm pacer was right on the money as he was adjudged player of the series with Men in Blue completing an easy win over the Irish side.
Bumrah was part of the Indian side taking on the arch-rivals Pakistan in their Asia Cup opener. However, the rain did not permitted the match to be completed as Rohit Sharma and Co could only bat. As mentioned above, Bumrah is set to miss the game against Nepal to be played on Monday. India needs to win this game to qualify for the Super 4 stages of the marquee event.
Bumrah will be fully available for team India’s next match in the Super 4 stages. Meanwhile, senior pacer Mohammed Shami is expected to replace the MI pacer. Shami was not part of the playing XI against Pakistan. All-rounder Shardul Thakur was given preference over Shami but he failed to give any results with the bat.
