Manchester United rope in Sofyan Amrabat on loan on Transfer Deadline Day

After striking an agreement with Fiorentina on Transfer Deadline Day, Manchester United is prepared to sign Sofyan Amrabat on a loan.

Manchester United have reached an agreement with Fiorentina to sign midfielder Sofyan Amrabat. The agreement is for a loan with the option to buy the player for €25 million (£21.4 million). Amrabat underwent a portion of his Manchester United physical in Italy before making the final trip to Carrington.

United pursued the 27-year-old midfielder late in the transfer window after following him for much of the summer. On Thursday, the Italian club turned down a loan offer from Manchester United for the Moroccan.

It was difficult for Manchester United to get Sofyan Amrabat since they had to submit many bids. Additionally, because of the financial fair play regulations, United was unable to afford to transfer him permanently. A loan move was necessary.

Fiorentina desired a long-term relocation. Several other heavyweight European clubs also made them offers. Amrabat, though, turned down every one of them, even Liverpool. Fiorentina was forced to accept United’s offer today since they had no other option.

According to reports, the offer was for a loan, with Erik ten Hag’s side asking a €2 million loan charge. The sum, though, would be split in half, with United merely required to pay €1 million before January, subject to a break clause.

Fiorentina rejected the deal due to the guaranteed sum, and are thought to prefer a permanent sale of Amrabat or a loan with a purchase commitment. The Moroccan’s contract is set to end next summer.

On deadline day alone, Amrabat became Erik ten Hag’s and Man Utd’s fourth acquisition. On September 1, the club announced the loans of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir from Fenerbahce and defender Sergio Reguilon from Tottenham Hotspur. They also offered experienced defender Jonny Evans a one-year contract at Old Trafford.
