PKL Auction: Asian Games preparation postpones Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Auction

The much-awaited Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 auction has been postponed. The decision has been taken in view of the ongoing preparations by the Indian Kabaddi Team for the Asian Games 2023.

The much awaited Pro Kabaddi League (PKL) Season 10 Player Auction has been postponed to a later date. Mashal Sports, the organisers of the league announced the decision on Friday, 1st September 2023. The decision to postpone the auction comes after a request from the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India since the preparation for the upcoming Asian Games is underway. The Player Auction was earlier scheduled to be held on 8-9 September.

“We have received a formal request from the AKFI Administrator to defer the PKL Season 10 Player Auction. It was in view of the ongoing preparations of the Indian Men’s and Women’s Teams for Kabaddi medal competitions at the Asian Games. Mashal and AKFI share the view that this is an event of vital importance for Indian Kabaddi”, said a spokesperson from Mashal Sports.

“The Administrator has acknowledged and appreciated the comprehensive reworking that all PKL stakeholders including our 12 teams and the broadcaster will have to make for the deferred player auction”, the spokesperson further added.

The next dates for the PKL Season 10 Player Auction will be announced soon. “The decision on the new dates will be taken after the consultation with the PKL Teams and Star Sports, the broadcast partner of PKL,” the release added.

PKL Season 10 Auction

The Auction was scheduled to take place in Mumbai on September 8 and 9. A total of 84 players have been retained by the 12 teams for Season 10. It includes 22 players from Elite Retained Players (ERP) category. 24 in the retained Young Players (RYP) and 28 from the Existing New Young Players (ENYP) category were also retained.

More than 500 players meanwhile will be put up for bid. It includes some big names like Pawan Sehrawat, Vikas Kandola, Fazel Atrachali and Mohammedreza Chiyaneh.

Some of the star retained players were PKL legend Pardeep Narwal by U.P. Yoddhas. Puneri Paltan retained its star young player Aslam Mustafa Inamdar. Defending champions Jaipur Pink Panthers retained Arjun Deshwal, who won the Most Valuable Player award winner in Season 9.
