Alex Pereira Confirms Next Fight For UFC Light Heavyweight Belt- More Reports

Alex Pereira, the UFC has informed him that his upcoming match at 205 pounds would be for the championship.

At UFC 291, Alex Pereira made his light heavyweight debut by decisively defeating former champion Jan Blachowicz. After he won, supporters urged the UFC to schedule a title fight between him and Jiri Prochazka, and it appears that they may have done so.

The UFC light heavyweight title has changed hands twice in the last twelve months, most recently when Prochazka had to give it up in December 2022 due to severe shoulder injuries sustained during training.

Following his five-round victory over Alex Pereira’s coach Glover Teixeira, Jamahal Hill went on to win the vacant title at UFC 283.

But ‘Sweet Dreams’ misfortune came some months ago when he tore his Achilles tendon playing hoops with other UFC fighters. Shortly later, Hill made the decision to relinquish the title officially, leaving the division without a champion.

However, according to Alex Pereira, the UFC has informed him that his upcoming match at 205 pounds would be for the championship. In a recent interview with “Poatan,” The Schmo, his coach, Glover Teixeira, provided the following statement:

“Yeah man, like [Pereira] always says, for sure he’s gonna fight for the belt. That was already set with the UFC during the last fight, and that’s it.”

If Alex Pereira’s claims are accurate, ‘Poatan’ will have contested for UFC championships in two weight classes with only six fights inside the organisation.

Prochazka thinks they’ll make a wonderful team, and even though the precise date ultimately doesn’t important, he still expects to challenge Pereira in 2023. Prochazka was scheduled to rematch the title-winning Teixeira before becoming injured.

Given that Teixeira is his friend, mentor, and one of his key trainers who assisted him in making the switch from kickboxing to MMA, even though it won’t be happening anymore, he views Pereira as the next best thing. In order to be prepared to face opponents of any style, including Pereira, the Czech actor is also working to be a full martial artist.
