Bumrah and Samson will undergo YoYo Test soon
The Asia Cup bound India team has hit the ground running with the closed-door camp in Alur, where the squad members are undergoing routine fitness tests ahead of the continental event beginning August 30. While the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill among others have passed the YoYo test, Bumrah, Samson, Tilak Varma and Prasidh Krishna are expected to go through the fitness test soon.
In the video posted by Star Sports, Bumrah alongside Tilak can be seen entering the vicinity. Later on, the speedster did some warm-up before bowling in full steam in the nets. To note, Bumrah had an excellent outing against Ireland as he returned to competitive cricket after a period of almost one year. Leading a rather young Indian side, Bumrah was adjudged player of the series for his lethal bowling against the Irish side. On the other hand, Samson also fared well in the series but could not show his absolute best.
As mentioned above, team India is set to depart for Sri Lanka where they will take on Pakistan in their opening match of the Asia Cup. The Men in Blue will play their opening match against the arch-rivals on September 2 at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium. The last time India face Pakistan, the former went on to win the epic battle in 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Indian side will be looking to win their opening match and have a perfect start to their campaign in Asia Cup. Rohit Sharma and Co. will face Nepal in their second match of the competition set to be played on September 4 in Pallekele.
