Bernardo Silva to return, Doku to debut as Man City faces Sheffield United

Manchester City will be without few of their key players and boss Pep Guardiola.

Manchester City Team News: Manchester City’s star player Bernardo Silva is set to return for the match against Sheffield United on Sunday. The Treble winners have started the Premier League season in typical City style as they secure two wins in their opening two games. The Pep Guardiola side secured a 3-0 win over Burnley followed by a 1-0 win against Newcastle United at Etihad Stadium.

Talking about head-to-head, Manchester City have been unbeaten against The Blades in all 10 Premier League encounters. The Cityzens have kept a clean sheet in their last 5 matches against Sheffield United in all competitions.

City are facing an impact of the historic treble winning season as the injury list has been growing with each match.

Kevin De Bruyne and John Stones find themselves sidelined due to injury. De Bruyne is struggling with a hamstring issue, while Stones is expected to be out of action until after the upcoming international break due to a thigh problem.

However, Bernardo Silva, who recently extended his contract until 2026, has fully recovered from illness and is expected to return.

With Silva’s return, Foden might be shifted to left flank and this might force City to bench Jack Grealish.

Notably, there will be a change on the touchline, with Pep Guardiola absent for the next two matches due to a back operation. Assistant head coach Juanma Lillo will step in to manage the team in Guardiola’s absence.

Manchester City XI
