Rohit & Dravid continue batting experiment, Kohli faces spin challenge on Day 3 of Asia Cup camp

KL Rahul batted and did wicketkeeping drills in India's Asia Cup preparatory camp in Alur.

Day 3 of India’s 6-day Asia Cup Camp in Bengaluru saw Indian skipper Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid continuing with batting experiment. While Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill batted together on Day 2, The third day saw the combination of Rohit and KL Rahul in the middle. Meanwhile, Virat was also seen working on his skills against spin.

Kohli faced spin bowlers in the nets and played few sweep shots. The 34-year-old batted against Varun Chakravarthy, Hrithik Shokeen, and Rahul Chahar in nets to prepare himself against the Pakistani spinners.

Following the net session, Kohli played some fast bowling against left-arm pacer Aniket Choudhary. The former Indian skipper was not the only one who faced Aniket. Skipper Rohit Sharma also had a long session in nets against the tall pacer to prepare himself against Shaeen Afridi.

The Day 3 camp also brought some good news for Indian cricket team fans. Star batter KL Rahul, who batted in the nets on Day 2 of Asia Cup Camp, picked the wicketkeeping gloves on Saturday and did light drills.

Notably, Rahul is doubtful for India’s Asia Cup opener against Pakistan due to a niggle.

Apart from Virat, Rohit, and KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer and all-rounder Shardul Thakur were also seen batting in nets. Rohit Sharma had earlier expressed that they are looking to add depth to their batting and Shardul’s ability to get quick runs will allow Team India more flexbility.

The likes of Mohammed Shami and Kuldeep Yadav were also seen having a bowl at the nets in Alur.

Team India will begin their Asia Cup 2023 campaign against arch-rival Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy.
