Fans on social media expressed their anguish as the official online ticket provider for World Cup 2023 ‘BookMyShow’ could not provide a smooth service to the customers. Some of the fans complained that the site crashed while a few of them stated that their device hanged while making the purchase. Not only just India’s matches,but purchasing tickets for other games seemed to be a tough task for the fans.

The opening day of ticket sales was reserved for non-India matches which included the warm-up matches as well. The process started at 8:00PM IST but soon after the site crashed due to heavy traffic. As mentioned above, ‘Bookmyshow’ is the official ticketing partner for the World Cup starting on October 5.

A total of 10 teams will participate at the showcase event, the first eight having already qualified through the Cricket World Cup Super League. Each team plays the other nine in a round robin format with the top four qualifying for the knockout stage and semi-finals.

Hosts India who have not won any ICC trophy since 2013 will have a golden opportunity to win the prized trophy in front of their home crowd. Before that, team India is set to play in the Asia Cup with their opening encounter against arch-rivals Pakistan fixed on September 2 in Sri Lanka. At present, team India is in NCA, Bengaluru training for the upcoming Asia Cup before leaving for the Island nation.
