Khabib Nurmagomedov says he might have been ‘wrong’ during the Conor McGregor presser

Nurmagomedov recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Patrick Bet David, where he revealed a wealth of information. The highlight of the conversation occurred when the host inquired about the most significant fight of Nurmagomedov’s career, which is widely regarded as a monumental moment in MMA history.

In response, the Dagestani fighter explained that during the press conference, he carefully observed Conor McGregor, aiming to understand his true character. Surprisingly, Nurmagomedov acknowledged that McGregor may have expressed positive sentiments, while also acknowledging his own past mistakes.

He stated, “I like to listen to people. It’s very interesting because you can listen to them and you can understand where they come from and what their IQ. If you are stupid what can you do? You cannot do nothing. How can you? If you cannot handle yourself, how are you gonna control yourself? You have to be quiet, just don’t talk in front of a lot of people because they’re gonna understand who you are so it’s better not to talk. So I was listening to him and he said many good things. Maybe I’m wrong, you know everyone makes mistakes.”

In addition, he expressed that after listening to McGregor during the press conference, he was certain that McGregor wouldn’t be able to defeat him because he believed he was operating at a higher skill level. Nurmagomedov mentioned that he carried this confidence with him into the fight, promising to demonstrate his superiority inside the octagon.

And indeed, he followed through on his words. However, Khabib also acknowledged that he may have made some mistakes along the way, but ultimately, he emerged victorious in the end.

Although all indications suggest that McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) must first re-enter the USADA testing programme, which necessitates two clean tests spread over six months, before stepping into the cage, he still lists Dec. 16 as the target date for his next bout.

Since The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 31’s premiere broadcast, McGregor has been on-and-off about a fight with Michael Chandler. The fact that the show was on everyone’s mind at the beginning made it very heated, but as the weeks passed, the Irish superstar changed his mind (a few times), and most recently, he wanted to combat the new “BMF.”

The UFC’s president, Dana White, told fight fans earlier this week that McGregor will definitely face Chandler next.

That was confirmed by McGregor during the same interview.
