India on Saturday won the second T20I against Ireland by a comfortable margin of 33 runs. After the match, two architects of the victory Rinku Singh and Ravi Bishnoi gathered on the ringside for a heart-to-heart chat.
Rinku, playing only his second match in national colours, smashed a quick-fire 38 off 21 balls to power India to a total of 180 runs. Ravi Bishnoi on the other hand picked up two important wickets to aid India in their victory.
The video of the chat, posted by the BCCI on their website, revolved around various topics including Rinku’s feeling after a successful outing, the fans chanting his name and Ravi Bishnoi’s celebration.
Ravi Bishnoi started the conversation, asking Rinku Singh how it felt to win the man of the match in the very first innings he played for the country.
“It feels pretty good,” Rinku said. “I was excited to bat in the first match but didn’t get the opportunity. When I went out to bat today, I was planning to stay and accelerate towards the end of the innings as I’ve done in IPL. I was concentrating on keeping myself calm.”
Ravi then referred to the “Rinku, Rinku” chants in Eden Gardens in this season’s IPL and compared it to the fan-following that followed Rinku in Dublin. On being asked how he felt, Rinku said, “I like it when I hear people chanting my name. People mostly know me because of the five sixes that I hit in IPL. I’m blessed to receive so much love from people in Kolkata and here as well.”
The conversation then turned the other way, with Rinku taking up the anchor’s role. He asked Ravi about his celebration with outstretched arm and teased him about the celebration bearing a resemblance to Indian superstar Shahrukh Khan.
“Frankly, I didn’t have a celebration of my own so I thought, ‘Why not just spread my arm and thank God for the wickets I’m getting?’ I would try to imitate SRK better the next time I take a wicket,” signed off Ravi Bishnoi.
