The much-awaited squad for Asia Cup 2023 is announced, and on expected there are no major surprises. Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel has included KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in the team. Both players proved their fitness during a practice game at National Cricket Academy (NCA). Tilak Varma has earned a call-up to squad owing to his stellar performances in T20 series against West Indies. Sanju Samson is will be traveling reserve in the 17-member squad announced by BCCI.
Ishan Kishan is also another wicketkeeper included in the squad, as it is still not clear whether Rahul will keep. Despite dismal performances in the ODI series against West Indies, Suryakumar Yadav has managed to hold on to his spot for the Continental Cup. Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna are also included in the squad owing to their match fitness they showed in Ireland series. The rest of the squad comprises the same team for the six-team tournament.

Asia Cup 2023: Who is in, Who is out for Continental Cup
Mohammed Shami and Siraj are back in the squad after being rested for the white-ball series against West Indies. Axar Patel has pipped Yuzvendra Chahal for the third spinner’s slot, with the first two being occupied by Ravindra Jadeja and Kuldeep Yadav. Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul Suryakumar Yadav, Varma, & Hardik Pandya are the batters. Bumrah, Siraj, Thakur, Shami, Prasidh, Kuldeep, Jadeja, and Axar Patel will comprise the bowlers.
After a long time, India are back to a full-strength squad. To note, the Men In Blue have not fielded their strongest playing XI due to injuries to several first-choice players. With only the Australia series in between Asia Cup and World Cup, Rohit Sharma would be keen to get the combinations right. India start the Continental Cup by playing against arch-rival Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy.
The two teams can also meet each other three times if they manage to reach Super 4s stage of Asia Cup.
