Inter Miami knows how to party. Especially when they have the likes of Lionel Messi in their ranks. Inter Miami won the Leagues Cup in a nail-biting thriller, which saw them win their first-ever trophy.
It is safe to say that since Lionel Messi’s arrival in Miami, their fortunes have turned around and they have been playing very well. In the aftermath of their victory, there were incredible scenes inside the Inter Miami dressing room after Lionel Messi inspired them to their first-ever trophy.

Inter Miami’s first-ever trophy
The storied Argentinean star helped his MLS team defeat Nashville SC to win the Leagues Cup as he continued his impressive run since joining the team. In the 23rd minute, he scored an incredible goal from the edge of the box to get the game started. In the 57th minute, Fabrice-Jean ‘Fafa’ Picault of Nashville equalized the score with a close-range shot.
After extra time, the score remained tied, and the dramatic penalty shootout was won by David Beckham’s Miami team, 10–9. Messi successfully converted his team’s first penalty kick, and they went on to win their first trophy since their founding in 2020.
Messi then made a classy gesture before the team’s trophy presentation to follow up on his game-changing performance. The new Inter Miami captain insisted on lifting the Leagues Cup together with his American counterpart Deandre Yedlin and put his armband on the latter’s arm.

Following the trophy presentation, the partying really got going stronger. With a clip of their victorious team going into the dressing room and spraying champagne, the club’s social media channels gave its followers an inside glimpse at the after-party.
The post-game press conference of manager Gerardo Martino was then interrupted by several players, who doused the Argentine with champagne.
The team danced while throwing more fizz about the locker area as the wild antics persisted. Strangely, some of the players had ski masks on for the festivities. Owner, David Beckham, too made his way into the dressing room. Dressed in a suit, he bravely made his way past everybody and also took a couple of pictures.
The wild scenes continued on and it won’t be a surprise if you see the Inter Miami team taking the party forward a couple of days. Ever since Lionel Messi’s arrival, the team has won seven on the trot.
David Beckham’s words on the win
Co-owner, David Beckham shed some light on the win and their first-ever trophy. He said, ‘A lot can happen in five weeks! A lot has changed for us, we will enjoy tonight and then we have to look to the future and continue to build. We have some of the best players, if not the best player, in the world out there for us wearing pink.’

He continued, ‘We have a bunch of academy players out there too and that is incredibly important. It’s an emotional night for all of us. It has been a long journey for me. It has been a long journey, I always knew there would be bumps in the road along the way and there was too many, to be honest. Tonight is a night we are going to enjoy.’
