5 Fights To Make After UFC 292

For the rest of the MMA fans, the next question in line will be what will UFC have to offer

Sterling had established himself as an all-time great champion even though he had won the bantamweight belt in unusual circumstances—by being disqualified in a match against champion Petr Yan that he was severely losing. Prior to Saturday, Sterling had successfully defended his throne three times in a row, all against famous past champions.

In the main event of UFC 292 at Boston’s TD Garden, Sean O’Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling to win the 135-pound title, causing a sea change in the bantamweight division.

The aftermath of the incident will be felt for some time. For the rest of the MMA fans, the next question in line will be what will UFC have to offer after delivering one of the most intriguing fights of the year 2023

O’Malley vs Marlon Vera 2 at UFC 296

A statement was delivered by Sean O’Malley at UFC 292 on Saturday night. After his victory, O’Malley indicated a desire to exact revenge on Marlon Vera for his lone professional defeat. Vera, who earlier in the evening defeated Pedro Munhoz, is still among the top bantamweights.

During the post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, O’Malley quickly wanted to exact revenge against ‘Chito’ Vera, shutting off his naysayers in style. The new champion at 135 pounds in the UFC challenged Marlon Vera to a match at UFC 296.

Zhang Weili vs Top rated Flyweight

After a convincing victory over Amanda Lemos, Joe Rogan declared Zhang Weili “might be the greatest of all time” in women’s MMA. UFC president Dana White also revealed that Zhang Weili will “probably” compete in China once more in the near future.

In the co-main event of UFC 292 in Boston’s TD Garden, the Chinese superstar successfully defended her strawweight title with scores of 50-43, 50-44, and 49-45 from the three cageside judges.

O’Malley vs Sterling 2

Sean O’Malley gave the most important speech of his career on Saturday in Boston. “Suga” won the bantamweight title at UFC 292 by successfully blocking a right hand from Aljamain Sterling, knocking him to the ground, and then completing the fight with more punches.

All during the week leading up to the bout, O’Malley and Sterling verbally sparred, but O’Malley’s TKO victory fulfilled his promise. The challenger had a nearly flawless bout, fending off two takedown attempts from Sterling before delivering the knockout blows. At only 28, O’Malley suddenly has complete control over one of the most competitive divisions in the sport.

MMA fans would love to see a second fight between the two fighters.

Ian Garry vs Vicente Luque

The key to Ian Machado Garry’s victory over seasoned opponent Neil Magny was dominance. As he moves up the welterweight rankings, it was Machado Garry’s first significant victory. He displayed excellent hitting throughout all three rounds, taking Magny down with leg kicks and coming close to finishing him in the waning seconds.

There is no doubt that a fight between Ian Garry vs Vicente Luque would be thrilling to watch.

Marlon Vera vs Petr Yan

At UFC 292 on August 19, Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera, a UFC bantamweight contender, was scheduled to square off against Henry Cejudo, a former bantamweight champion. Cejudo was injured and had to withdraw from the match, but Vera challenged Petr Yan, another former champion, to face him in the octagon.
