Canelo Alvarez, the undisputed super middleweight champion, and Oscar De La Hoya, his former promoter, have had a hard and turbulent relationship recently. The legendary boxer, who began working with Alvarez in 2010 as the Mexican superstar rose through the ranks of the sport, served as his first significant promoter.
However, after Alvarez and De La Hoya had some problems regarding his new deal, things would alter in 2019. Saul and DAZN reached the largest agreement in boxing history in 2018. For a total of $365 million over his next 11 fights, Alvarez would compete on DAZN.

Oscar De La Hoya Isn’t The Person He Shows
He later filed lawsuits against Golden Boy and DAZN, claiming fraud, breach of contract, and other offences. In November 2020, the lawsuit was resolved, and Alvarez became a free agent. Despite this, it appears that ‘Golden Boy’ is prepared to reestablish his relationship with his former customer.
Oscar De La Hoya was questioned if he would ever team up with Alvarez again in a previous interview with DAZN. De La Hoya had asserted that he believes he can convince the Mexican to collaborate with him once more in a sport like boxing where promoters have the power to create or break athletes.

Canelo Alvarez appeared on a podcast recently of The Breakfast Club, when asked what kind of person he thinks Oscar De La Hoya is, he said, “ We are loyal, right and we are always we are the only fighters and we stay with them when everybody left him, right because I’m loyal and I treat everybody like a family, and I do the same thing with all them. But I think he’s not. He is not that kind of person. I don’t know if he’s a good person or not, but I think he’s not. He is not the kind of a person that he shows.”
Canelo Alvarez also added, everything is business for him. And it is not something that he is making up, but these are what Oscar has told him that makes him act a particular way.
