Cricketer-turn politician Wahab Riaz meets PCB chief, assures of Asia Cup 2023 prep

Pakistan will host four matches of the Asia Cup 2023 while the rest 9 matches will be hosted by Sri Lanka.

Former Pakistan cricketer Wahab Riaz, who is advisor to Punjab’s caretaker government, has ensured foolproof arrangements for the Asia Cup 2023 matches in Multan and Lahore. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Management Committee (MC) chairman Zaka Ashraf met with the representatives of Punjab’s caretaker government on Friday to discuss the arrangements.

During the meeting, Wahab, who recently announced his retirement from cricket, ensured PCB foolproof arrangements for the Asia Cup matches. The two parties also sorted out differences that happened in the previous tenure of Najam Sethi.

Punjab government vs PCB resolved

The issue between both parties occurred when Punjab’s caretaker government had asked PCB, then led by Sethi, to pay Rs500 million for PSL 8 matches arrangements. After negotiations, PCB had paid Rs100m which led to differences.

Hosts Pakistan will take on Nepal in the opening match of Asia Cup 2023 on August 30 in Multan. Lahore will host Asia Cup matches on September 3, 5 and 6.

This year’s tournament will will feature six teams: Pakistan, India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, and Nepal. The tournament will be played from August 30 to September 17.
