World Athletics Championships: All you need to know about Indian squad, schedule, LIVE Streaming

World Athletics Championships 2023: The 19th edition of the World Athletics Championships is all set to get underway from Saturday, 19th August 2023. The nine-day event will be held in Budapest, Hungary. A 27-member India squad is set to participate in the biennial event. Reigning Olympic champions Neeraj Chopra will lead the Indian contingent in the tournament. Check out other Indian athletes and All you need to know about the biennial event.

25-year old Neeraj Chopra won silver in the Javelin Throw in the last edition of the World Athletics Championships. He will be gunning for gold this year. Other prominent names that will represent India in the event includes Steeplechaser Avinash Sable, long jumpers Murali Sreeshankar and Jeswin Aldrin. Triple jumpers Praveen Chitravel, Abdulla Aboobacker and Eldhose Paul will also be in action.

Neeraj Chopra is the only Indian in the squad to have won a medal in the prestigious event. He cliched the silver with a throw of 88.13m. It was only the second-ever medal won by an Indian in the history of the World Athletics Championships. Anju Bobby George was the first-ever Indian to finish on the podium in the event way back in 2003. She clinched the bronze medal in Long Jump with a 6.70m jump.
