Prithvi Shaw might recover fully by Next Year: MCA

Prithvi injured his knee while fielding against Durham and subsequent scan results have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected. Officials from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) have anticipated that Shaw will make full recovery by January next year.

“After discussing with him, it’s evident that he will require around two to three months for a complete recovery. This indicates his potential readiness by December and aligns with the Ranji Trophy’s commencement in January,” MCA official told Cricbuzz. “Prithvi is presently under the care of the BCCI and is scheduled to consult with a specialist in London on Friday,” the official added.

It must be mentioned that Shaw was in blistering form in the Royal London Cup. The 23-year-old is the leading run scorer in the competition after amassing 429 runs in four innings, including a record-breaking 244 against Somerset and a knock of 125 against Durham. However, his stint with Northamptonshire has come to an end due to his knee injury.

The injury deals a significant blow to Shaw’s comeback in the national squad. After having a poor outing in the IPL, the right-handed batter finally managed to get back on the track which reignited his potential return to the Indian side. However, the knee injury has made a severe dent to Shaw’s possible return. The 23-year-old played his last international game in July 2021.
