Arshdeep surpasses Jasprit Bumrah, becomes fastest Indian pacer to scalp 50 T20I wickets

As many as eight Indian bowlers have taken 50+ wickets in the 20-over format.

Team India registered a comfortable win in IND vs IRE 2nd T20I to take unassailable 2-0 lead in 3-match series. While, it was another bowling domination from Indian bowlers, it was extra special for Arshdeep Singh. The pacer became the fastest Indian pacer to scalp 50 wickets in the 20-over format.

The Punjab-born pacer reached 50 wickets in his 33rd T20I match, breaking the record of Jasprit Bumrah, who had completed the feat in 41 games.

Apart from Bumrah, all-rounder Hardik Pandya is the only other pacer who has taken 50 wickets for the Men in Blue in the 20-over format.

The 24-year-old also became the joint-third-fastest pacer to complete 50 T20I wickets. Arshdeep joined Bangladesh’s Mustafizur Rahman as the joint-third-fastest pacer to complete 50 T20I wickets.
Ireland’s Mark Adair (28) and South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi (32) are the other two pacers.

As many as eight Indian bowlers have scalped more than 50 wickets in T20Is with Yuzvendra Chahal being at the top after having 96 dismissals. However, his bowling partner Kuldeep Yadav holds the record of taking fastest 50 wickets in T20Is. The left-arm spinner took just 29 matches to bag the record under his name.

The Men in Blue took an unassialable 2-0 lead in the 3-match IND vs IRE T20I series. After posting 185 on board, the bowles combined to restrict the hosts to 152/8.
