Asia Cup is one of the biggest multi-nation tournament that exits in cricket. The event was first introduced in 1984 with just three Asian teams participating. However, after almost 40 years the tournament has expanded and as many as seven teams have taken part in the event. This year, six teams (India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal) will be going head to head for the title.
In the 13 editions of the ODI Asia Cup, only three sides have lifted the trophy. With the tournament starting in just two weeks, let us check out the Asia Cup winner list since the tournament’s inception:
Asia Cup Winner List: India (6 Times)
India has won the ODI Asia Cup a record six times and has the second-best win percentage (65.62), winning 31 of their 49 matches.
India first won the title in the inaugural season of 1984, winning both of their group-stage matches. The Men in Blue then went on to win the Asia Cup title three consecutive times in 1988, 1990, and 1995, winning four out of the first five editions of the tournament.

Since then, however, India has won just two titles in eight editions of the multi-nation event. Both of these title runs have come in the last five editions, beating Sri Lanka in 2010 and Bangladesh in 2018.
Sri Lanka (5 Times)
Sri Lanka is not too far behind India in terms of most ODI Asia Cup titles. The Lankans are the only team to play in all 13 editions of the event.
The Lanka Lions have won the most matches (34 out of 50) and have the best winning percentage (68) in tournament history.
Sri Lanka won twice in the first seven editions (1986 and 1997) of the tournament. In the last six editions, however, they have won three times (2004, 2008, and 2014).
Pakistan (2 times)
Pakistan have won two Asia Cups out of the 12 they have participated in. The Men in Green finally won their first title in 2000, beating Sri Lanka in the final. After 14 years and six editions of the event, they finally won the title.

They waited another 12 years to win their second title, beating Bangladesh this time.
Pakistan have a win percentage of 59.09, winning 26 out of their 49 matches.
