After 77 minutes against Chelsea, Mohamed Salah was replaced by Ben Doak. Furious by the decision to remove him, he waved his palm in the air in the direction of the bench before stumbling over to the touchline. Mohammed Salah was trying to break the record for the most goals scored in a Premier League opening weekend.

After new Chelsea defender Axel Disasi erased Luis Diaz’s early goal, the two teams battled out an entertaining draw; nonetheless, Salah cut an unhappy figure when he was substituted for Ben Doak’s fresh legs in the second half.

Jurgen Klopp’s words

Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp was quick to justify his decision to remove the number 11 of Liverpool. Even though Klopp knew that Mohammed Salah was chasing the record for the most goals scored in a Premier League opening weekend, the manager made it clear that he can’t think of these things.

Klopp said, ‘We are here to win a game. Mo is super important but we have to make decisions. We needed fresh legs. He has 500 different records. I can’t think of these. I can understand because if Mo scored it would have been a new record for goals scored in the opening game but I didn’t think about that.’

He continued, ‘We needed stability and we needed fresh legs. It was super intense for everybody. That’s all I can say about it, his reaction was absolutely okay. When I sub a player and he is jumping in to my arms at 1-1 and he is a striker who thinks he will score, I would be really surprised so that’s absolutely fine.’

Roy Keane blasts Mohammed Salah’s reaction

When Mohamed Salah was replaced in the second half of Liverpool’s tie at Chelsea on Sunday, the Egyptian forward threw a fit and Roy Keane instructed him to “sit down and shut up.”

Sky Sports pundit Keane said on Salah, who threw his wrist tape on the floor in frustration, ‘It’s OK to be upset, but don’t keep it up for too long. He was shaking his head and then sat down on the bench with his arms up. Sit down and shut up. You have to take it. Be upset but don’t drag it out. We’ve seen a lot better players than Salah get taken off – it’s part of the game.’

Salah misses out on scoring on opening EPL weekend

The 31-year-old failed to score on the first day of the Premier League season for the first time while playing for Liverpool. Salah, who had posed a threat the whole first half, appeared agitated as he left the field, ripping the tape off of his hand and tossing it on the ground.

He didn’t shake hands with his manager, Jurgen Klopp, who remained in the technical area and didn’t approach the forward, instead walking directly to the Liverpool bench and high-fiving his replacement.
