For months, there have been rumours of a bout between him and Chandler, his opponent on the reality series The Ultimate Fighter, but no specific date, weight class, or even venue has been made public.
However, The Notorious has now clarified the matter and stated that a fight with Chandler will happen before the year is up.
He Wrote on Twitter “ December sounds perfect to me…”
And while the clock on the bitter rivalry was running out, McGregor looked to turn his attention to Gaethje, who had just beaten Dustin Poirier to win the BMF championship at UFC 291. Before engaging in a trilogy fight with the California native next year, he is eager to reclaim the belt that was made for his former foe Nate Diaz.
Recently, McGregor tweeted to his followers that he was still up for a bout with Chandler but thought that Gaethje was getting more attention in the promotion. According to the former interim lightweight champion, the match came close to happening six times, with a 2019 match almost happening before the Irishman experienced an injury setback.
