End of India’s T20I dominance! Men in Blue suffers first T20 series loss in 2 years

Team India suffered their first T20I series defeat in 25 months after loss in IND vs WI 5th T20I.

Team India registered an 8-wicket loss against West Indies in IND vs WI 5th T20I to suffer a 2-3 series defeat on Sunday. The loss in 5th T20I ended India’s glorious T20I series win run. The Men in Blue, who are no. 1 in T20I rankings, suffered their first defeat in the last 13 T20I series.

Before this, Team India’s last T20I series defeat came against Sri Lanka where they lost 2-1.

India in the last 13 T20I series:

Won – 11
Draw – 1 (vs. SA)
Lost – 1 (vs. WI)

Series loss brings many ‘first-ever’ for Men in Blue

While the win in 5th T20I turned memorable for the West Indies, it set some unwanted record for Team India.

The series loss in T20Is is not just Team India’s first loss in 25 months, it India’s first ever series loss in a five-match T20Is.

It is also the first the first time in history that the Men in Blue has lost 3 matches in a T20I series.

It also turned out to be Hardik Pandya’s first series defeat as skipper. Notably, Pandya has lead the side since the T20 World Cup last year.

Losing is good sometimes: Hardik Pandya

While, it was a hard hitting loss for the Men in Blue Skipper Hardik Pandya said that sometimes losing is good as it teaches some lessons. “Losing is good sometimes. It teaches you a lot of things”, Pandya said in post-match presentation.

What’s next for Team India?

The Men in Blue will now head to Dublin to play 3-match T20I series against Ireland, starting from August 18. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah will lead the side in absence of Hardik Pandya who has been rested.
