Novak Djokovic was barred from entering the United States in 2022 as he was unvaccinated against Covid-19. Despite Djokovic’s special petition to the US authorities, he was not granted permission to enter the county last year.

After missing the US Open in 2022, he was also unable to participate in Miami Open and Indian Wells Masters earlier this year. However US government announced its plan to end the Covdid-19 vaccinationation requirements for international travelers to enter the country in May. This paved the way for Djokovic to return to North America this year.

He has landed in Cincinnati on Saturday and has begun his practice sessions on the hardcourts. For his first practice session, plenty of fans too thronged the stadium to catch a glimpse of the 23-time Grand Slam winner. He worked hard under the watchful eye of coach Goran Ivan and team member Carlos Gomez-Herrera.

Cincinnati Masters will mark the return of Novak Djokovic to the tour following the Wimbledon this year. He was bidding to win his fourth successive title at SW19. However he finished as runner-up in the Grand Slam event after losing to Carlos Alcaraz in the final.

The two-time champion at the Cincinnati Masters will compete in the tournament for the first time since 2019. He will be the second seed in the tournament and has received a bye to the second round.
