All you need to know about World Cup squad submission dates

ICC World Cup 2023 Squad Submission begins on 5th September, ultimate deadline on 27th September before Support Period begins

The initial squad submission draws near as the Selection committee continues to work their brains to finalize the team for the World Cup 2023. The submission for the squad dates begins on 5th September. Once the support period begins, teams can make tweaks in their squad provided they seek permission from the Event Technical Committee.

With injury concerns continuing to plague India, it is now a tough job for the BCCI Selection committee to choose the team for the upcoming mega tournament. But what are the details regarding the team submission?

The initial squad submission deadlines at our tournaments are 30 days before the support periods start. The support periods start one week before the tournaments,” ICC informed InsideSport.

Changes may be made before the support period without seeking permission, but once the support period kicks in, the Event Technical Committee needs to approve replacements,” ICC added.

What are the rules?

  • The initial date for the submission of the squad begins on 5th September (1 month before World Cup starts)
  • The last date for the team submission is on 27th September (1 week before World Cup Starts).
  • From the 5th to the 27th of September, teams can make as many changes as they want to their World Cup squad.
  • The support period starts on 27th September and continues till 4th October (1 week before World Cup starts.)
  • Teams can make changes in their squad during the Support period, but they will have to take permission from the Event Technical Committee needs.

As for India, the BCCI is keen to select the strongest team for the World Cup. But it will be the Asia Cup that will be the testing ground ahead of the big tournament. Among the injury concerns, KL Rahul is likely to be back for the squad as is Shreyas Iyer if he recovers in time for the tournament.
