West Ham aim double swoop for Man United stars Harry Maguire & Scott McTominay

West Ham has targeted Manchester United talents Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay in a double swoop ahead of the Premier League season.

West Ham has increased its bid for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire to £30 million. Last month, the Hammers’ £20 million deal for the England international was rejected. West Ham are also rumoured to be interested in Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay. Manchester United will not force the players to leave, but will examine “fair market value” bids.

David Moyes, the Hammers’ manager, has made the Manchester United defender one of his top priority. West Ham are negotiating a pay arrangement that will benefit all parties, including the Red Devils. This comes on the heels of Maguire’s recent wage boost following their Champions League qualification.

Maguire has lately been deprived of his captaincy at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag. Last season, he made just eight Premier League appearances.

In 2019, Manchester paid £80 million to sign the central defender from Leicester. With the Euros coming up next summer, Harry maguire would like to be playing first team football this season. Moyes wants extra depth at centre back to cover for Kurt Zouma’s injury problems. Maguire might work well with another ball-playing defender Nayef Aguerd.

Moyes is also interested in Maguire’s teammate Scott McTominay as he looks to bolster his midfield. Edson Alvarez of Ajax is on his way to the London Stadium as a direct replacement for £105 million departure Declan Rice.

West Ham has been in talks with Manchester United for several weeks about signing McTominay, 26. If they can reach a deal with Maguire, they may consider a double swoop.

Following Mason Mount’s departure from Chelsea, Scotland international McTominay has slid down the pecking order at United. Casemiro’s importance in Ten Hag’s plans has boosted it.
