Neymar moved to PSG in 2017 for a world record cost of €222 million. Despite having five years remaining on his contract, Neymar has informed PSG that he wishes to leave the club. The Brazilian superstar has had an injury-plagued season in Paris, appearing in only 20 Ligue 1 games.

The revelation comes in the wake of Kylian Mbappe’s transfer issue. The France captain is currently in a contract dispute with the club, owing to his desire to join Real Madrid. Following the departure of Lionel Messi on a free transfer earlier this summer, Neymar is now said to be eager to leave PSG.

Nonetheless, his destination will be a challenge. Saudi Arabia and Chelsea have both been mentioned as possible destinations. Barcelona is considered the favourite to re-sign the attacker.

However, the coaching staff, led by Xavi Hernández, has responded negatively. They are aware of Neymar’s private life as well as his frequent ailments that take him off the game for extended periods of time. Furthermore, his compensation is exorbitant in comparison to Barcelona’s financial situation.
