Dana White Receives Extreme Hate For Recent Actions During Event
Last night (Sat., Aug. 5, 2023) at Nashville, Tennessee’s Bridgestone Arena, UFC Nashville took place. The main event was a complete snoozer, despite the fact that the event as a whole featured a lot of excitement and interesting fights all around the card (full results here).
In fact, Cory Sandhagen dominated Rob Font for 25 minutes before winning by unanimous decision, although most of that time was spent Sandhagen grappling and dictating to Font. The agitated Nashville audience began to boo after the second round and didn’t stop at all.
UFC President Dana White Receives Extreme Hate For Recent Actions During Event
To make matters worse, according to Spinnin Backfist, UFC President Dana White reportedly got up and fled the fight in the middle of the fourth round.
Given how proficient they are at striking, many MMA analysts thought the Sandhagen vs. Font battle would be a thrilling contest. When it came time for the battle, though, that was not the case, and it fell short of expectations. It was especially because of Cory Sandhagen’s strategy.
Both boxers exchanged blows with one another at the beginning of the bout. However, when Cory Sandhagen began employing his grappling techniques, the entire dynamic of the bout altered. Rob Font appears to have lost because of the competition’s short notice component. He might have assumed Sandhagen would mostly employ his striking abilities. But ‘The Sandman’s strategy involved more grappling than hitting. That made it impossible for Font to have the upper hand during the conflict.
The audience was angry and expected bloodshed during the bout. They were unable to witness that, though, as Sandhagen’s wrestling continued to put Font under strain. Then the shocking thing took place. During the fourth round of the main event, UFC president Dana White appeared to become impatient with the lack of action and left the venue. See what the audience had to say about that scenario.
