Sanju Samson grassed yet another chance to make his case. With the Asia Cup and the World Cup looming, Kerala batter remains in contention. The Rajasthan Royals (RR) skipper was dismissed for yet another low score in the IND vs WI 2nd T20.
Samson’s ultra-aggressive approach led to his downfall. The RR skipper, after a sluggish start charged down with purpose to force the pace of the innings. However, some turn and guile from Akeal Hosein meant that the Kerala-born star was stranded halfway down the wicket, stumped.

The T20I series was Samson’s time to shine and showcase his prowess ahead of the Asia Cup 2023. KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer are unlikely to make the cut, the 28-year-old could make the spot. A good show could also lead to a place in the World Cup squad.
While the series isn’t done yet, Samson has wasted two good opportunities to showcase his potential. In the first game, he failed to steer India home in a nervy chase, getting run out. On Sunday, Sanju’s over aggressive nature cost him with his side already under collapse. It was left to young Tilak Varma to steer India out of the rabbit hole in Guyana.
Sanju and Surya are in a head to head battle for a middle order spot, with the latter in favour of the team management. However, SKY has struggled in the ODI series and the T20Is now. Samson, who scored a 50 in the 3rd ODI, has missed his chance to further his case.
