The Canadian Open will kick-start at Toronto on Monday, 7th August. All eyes will be on reigning US Open champion and World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, who is set to make his debut in the tournament at Toronto.

Canadian Open 2023: The first of the two ATP Masters 1000 and WTA 1000 tournament is all set to get underway ahead of the US Open 2023. The Canadian Open will kick-start at Toronto on Monday, 7th August. All eyes will be on reigning US Open champion and World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz, who is set to make his debut in the tournament at Toronto. Meanwhile, Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Andy Murray will also be in action. Women’s field will be led by World No.1 Iga Swiatek. Check All you need to know about the tournament.

Carlos Alcaraz headlines first quarter

World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz returns to action following his victory at the Wimbledon. He is all set to begin his preparation for his title defence at the US Open this year.

The 20-year old is in the top quarter of the draw at the Canadian Open. He has received a bye to the second round and will begin his campaign by facing either Ben Shelton or Zapatta Miralles.

Fifth seed Holger Rune is also in the quarter and he also will begin his campaign from the second round. He is likely to face Emil Ruusuvuori, who will play against a qualifier in the first round.

Hubert Hurkacz and Tommy Paul are the only other seeded players in the quarter. 12th seed Tommy Paul will begin his campaign in the first round by facing a qualifier. 15th seed Hurkacz meanwhile takes on Alexander Bublik in the opening round.

Mimir Kecmanovic, Francisco Cerundolo and wildcard entrant Alexis Galarneau are also the other players in the quarter.

Stefanos Tsitsipas an Jannik Sinner in second quarter

Fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas will enter the tournament after his appearance in the final at the Los Cabos Open. The Greek is drawn in the same quarter that also has Jannik SInner. Italian Sinner will return to action following his semifinal appearance at the Wimbledon earlier this season.

Tsitsipas who has received a bye to the second round will begin his campaign by facing the winner between Christopher Eubanks and Gael Maonfils. Sinner meanwhile will play against either Gregoire Barrerre or Matteo Berrettini in the second round.

Andy Murray is also in this quarter. He makes his way into the quarter following his second round defeat at the Citi Open. The Briton will face Lorenzo Sonego in the opening round. He is likely to face 10th seed Felix Auger Aliassime in the second round. Aliassime will begin his campaign against a qualifier.

14th seed Borna Coric is the only other seeded player in the quarter. He faces Grigor Dimitrov in the first round. Upcoming youngsters Tomas Etcheverry and Sebastian Korda meanwhile will set up clash against each other in the first round.

Casper Ruud leads third quarter

Third seed Casper Ruud leads the third quarter of the draw. The Norwegian enters the tournament following his quarterfinal defeat at the German Open. He is likely to face Jiri Lehecka in the second round. This quarter also has some big names like sixth seed Andrey Rublev, ninth seed Frances Tiafoe and 13th seed Alexander Zverev.

Tiafoe takes on local favourite Milos Raonic, who is a wildcard entrant in the first round. Alexander Zverev meanwhile begins his campaign against Tallon Griekspoor. Russian Andrey Rublev will face either Mackenzie McDonald or Aslan Karatsev in the second round.

Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz in final quarter

Daniil Medvedev returns following his semifinal exit at the Wimbledon. The Russian begins his campaign by facing either wildcard entrant Vasek Pospisil or a qualifier in the first round. Eighth seed Taylor Fritz is also in this quarter. He will be playing the winner between Ugo Humbert and Nicolas Jarry in the second round.

11th seed Cameron Norrie meanwhile faces Alex de Minaur in a mouth-watering first round clash. Lorenzo Musetti is the only other seeded player in the quarter. The 16th see will set up clash against Yoshihito Nishioka in the first round.
