Good news for team India Rishabh Pant facing 140kph-plus in nets at NCA

Rishabh Pant is set to start quicker body movements in two months time.

After taking baby steps post horrific car accident, Rishabh Pant is now making phenomenal recovery at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The southpaw is now facing 140kmph-plus bowlers in training session and is finding no difficulty whatsoever. The wicketkeeper batter started taking throwdowns last month, but over the last couple of weeks, the speed of deliveries are gradually increasing.

The Delhi Capitals captain is also facing no issues taking fast deliveries and is also pretty fine with small movements. Not only batting, but Pant has also begun wicketkeeping duties with lesser intensity. Currently, the 25-year-old is focusing only on smaller body movements as quicker ones may aggravate injury. The medical staff and trainers at NCA are optimistic that Pant will start quicker body movements in a couple of months’ time.

“Rishabh has been making a fine recovery. He has started to take on deliveries with a speed excess of 140 kmph. We all are delighted with the way he has been crossing every hurdle in his recovery. He is keeping well. His next target will be to focus on larger and quicker body movements, which we aim to achieve in the next couple of months,” a source at the NCA told RevSportz.

Rishabh Pant: Pant recovery going well, wicketkeeper batter likely to make comeback in England series

With two months still to go for Pant’s recovery, it is unlikely the southpaw will be fit for ODI World Cup. BCCI have made it very clear that it won’t rush any player back to the Indian team after paying a huge price in Jasprit Bumrah’s case. After World Cup, India play Australia in the five-match T20 series and after that, they travel to South Africa in December for the all-format tour.

Pant may not be fit for the Protes series, but the BCCI are optimistic that the 25-year-old will be fit for England Test series, which is slated to be played in January.
