‘SACK ROVID’ trends after Virat Kohli no-show in India vs West Indies ODI series

Rahul Dravid said it was a deliberate strategy to experiment during ODI series against West Indies

While India managed to win the ODI series 2-1, sack Rovid is trending on Twitter as fans were disappointed not to see Virat Kohli in action. The legendary batter played only one match and did not get to bat in that as well. Skipper Rohit Sharma faced five balls and was rested for the second and third ODIs. Kohli was also rested as part of Dravid’s experimentation strategy.

With Kohli showing fine form in the preceding Test series, fans wanted to see Kohli in action in the ODIs, a format where he earned the chase master tag. Dravid and Rohit though had other plans and instead preferred to give a chance to young players. While the move backfired in the second game, India finally managed to put on dominating performance in the last ODI.

Sack Rovid: Dravid’s experimentation does not impress fans

With Asia Cup 2023 less than one month away, it would have been ideal if Kohli played the three ODIs against West Indies. However, when Dravid was quizzed about the experimentation he said,  “Honestly, this was our last chance to try some of our players. We have got four of our players who are injured and are in the NCA. With days to go for the Asia Cup and then the World Cup, we are kind of running out of time in a lot of ways. And we are hoping that some of them will be for the Asia Cup and the World Cup.

But we can’t take those chances. We have to try out other people and give them chances. In the worst-case scenario, they at least have game time behind them,” Rahul Dravid said after the India vs West Indies 2nd ODI.
